Okay, cunts! It’s time to listen. Making money from writing is not as easy as you might think. In fact, this shit is hella challenging. Making a few bucks by writing shitty articles and selling them on content mills is simple, but making good money or making a living out of writing is freaking hard. It requires the practice of roughly 10000s hours, if not more to get good at writing. If you are looking to take your writing business to the next level, you first gotta work on your craft. Every other thing is secondary. Because if your writing sucks, you suck, you can’t expect people to pay you. You shouldn’t. Just like nobody likes to eat shit, nobody likes to read shit. First, get the fuck up, improve your craft, then think about monetizing writing.
Do you write every day? Have you developed a writing routine? Do you wake up every day and write at the same time at the same fucking place? If not, what are you even doing here? Writing is nothing like how they show it in movies.
The sea rolls away over the horizon as the sun rises. The writer takes a sip of coffee while jotting down his best thoughts in his vintage journal. The ideas are flowing, birds are singing, the wind is passing by. Meanwhile, his spouse arrives with a super delicious breakfast.
You are romanticizing the idea of writing. This shit doesn’t work like that. You think famous writers used to drink coffee. Famous writers like Hemingway? Hell no!
I know you are not confident about your skills but still, you wanna know about various ways to monetize your beloved craft, which is understandable. You are broke. You need money to buy a Mac book, courses (the foreign copywriting initiative), and books. You have bills to pay. Your partner is an over-spender.
But why do you think I have something new to tell? I’m going to state the same old techniques about which you have read 10,000 times from the internet. You know them, but you don’t move your ass to fucking take action and try any of them. You are keen on finding various ways to make money from writing but you don’t want to put in the hard work.
Anyway, let me repeat the same ways on how you can fucking make money from writing:
Writing content for brands and influencers
Think about the time you wrote an essay or article in your school and were praised by your teacher for your writing skills. You felt amazing. Didn’t you? Well, writing articles for the internet is nothing like that. You can’t be stingy with words and still expect an applause. If your content is crap nobody is going to give a damn about you. You are not going to get attention. You will be ignored just like how you used to get ignored while hanging out with your school friends. Remember?
To write content and make money from it, you must learn how to write well, and mind you that’s only the first part. To sell your craft, you need to look for people who will be interested in what you have to offer and most people will not be interested.
To make money by writing content, you can look for brands and influencers on social media and make them feel like they need you and it’s not the other way around.
Start a blog and monetize it
Starting a blog is easy. But driving traffic and monetizing it is not. You will need to build a website, learn SEO, write good content, and even build a social media presence to drive traffic to your website. This will take a whole lot of time and effort. But think long-term!
Your site needs to be well-optimized, your blog content needs to be well-structured and well-written. You will need to leave comments on blogs of other bloggers and produce content consistently. There are so many bloggers out there pushing the benefits of blogging but there are many who fail either because they don’t have proper knowledge about how the search engine works or they are not consistent.
If you manage to drive traffic to your website.
There are various options to monetize. You can make money:
- Through affiliate marketing
- Selling digital products (ebooks, courses)
- Adsense
- Consultation
- Selling your writing service
Write sponsored review posts
Did you know about this one? You know you can make money from blogging through Adsense and Propell Ads but they pay only a few cents per article. With sponsored review posts, you can make good money in one shot. You will get paid for your review posts. Sounds fun right? But to do this you need to reach out to potential advertisers who would be interested in buying a review. It is a lot like looking for clients who would be interested in your writing service. You can look for potential advertisers on social media and fix a meeting. By writing sponsored review posts you can easily make $200- 500 per posts. Your sponsored review will help the advertiser reach more people. But the sponsored review has its cons too. And therefore you should never promote something you are not genuinely interested in or are not sure about.
I haven’t tried it yet because I didn’t feel the need to. If you are serious about making money from writing you must check this out!👇
